The Tube-Tech MP 1A is a dual-channel unit that functions as both a microphone preamplifier and a direct instrument amplifier. It features fully floating, balanced mic inputs and outputs, with switchable +48V phantom power and a -20 dB pad. Microphone gain is adjustable in 5 dB steps, ranging from +20 dB to +70 dB.

The unbalanced instrument inputs offer a gain range of +10 dB to +60 dB. All amplification stages are tube-based, with DC-powered heaters to eliminate hum. Except for the mains transformer, all transformers are shielded in MU-metal enclosures, and both input and output transformers include a static screen between the primary and secondary windings.
