Retro Instruments 2A3 Dual Tube EQ USED In Excellent Condition (luigi)

USED RETRO 2A3 Dual Channel Tube Program Equalizer In Excellent Condition !!!!!!

Vintage tube amplification and custom-designed transformers set the stage for the RETRO 2A3's rich, musical tone. True passive equalization delivers smooth, natural EQ curves that enhance your sound without harshness or fatigue. Designed as an ultra high-fidelity program equalizer, the RETRO 2A3 goes beyond traditional equalization, offering a sonic character that elevates everything it touches.

Faithfully reproducing the performance of the classic Pultec EQ, the RETRO 2A3 expands upon the original with additional high-frequency boost points-carefully selected to sit in new tonal "sweet spots." These meticulously tuned HF boost circuits capture the essence of legendary passive EQs, allowing you to sculpt vocals with brilliance and presence, or make instruments sit perfectly in the mix. Whether used on individual tracks or across the stereo buss, the results are consistently musical and satisfying.

A newly designed subsonic filter enhances low-frequency control, addressing the original's tendency to exaggerate subsonic energy. Utilizing the interstage transformer, this filter not only manages unwanted lows but also imparts unique transformer coloration that benefits both tracking and mixing. With selectable peaking responses at 40 Hz and 90 Hz, you can shape the bottom end with precision. The 40 Hz setting, in particular, adds energy and focus in the coveted 35-40 Hz range, while maintaining warmth and clarity throughout the midrange. The filter can also be bypassed entirely when clean, tight low-end response is needed.

Despite its compact 2U footprint, the RETRO 2A3 houses two fully independent EQ channels with intuitive controls and generous spacing. These channels can be used for stereo operation, on separate mono sources, or cascaded for extended tonal shaping. Channel separation exceeds 70 dB, ensuring pristine stereo integrity.

Unlike active EQs that rely on feedback and can sound sterile or aggressive, the RETRO 2A3 uses a fully passive capacitor-inductor topology. This design delivers effortless, organic tone-even at extreme boost or cut settings. Particular attention was given to the iconic Pultec-style low-frequency boost/cut interaction, ideal for tightening up low end and adding punch to bass and kick drums by simultaneously boosting lows and cutting low mids.

Even with no EQ engaged, the RETRO 2A3 imparts a distinct musicality thanks to its tube amplification stage. Whether you're tracking, mixing, or mastering, this equalizer offers a versatile palette of tonal textures and sonic colors-making it an indispensable tool in any studio.
